Draft Orchard
Help
How a draft gets from an idea to approved, and what to do when something is wrong. Signed in, How do I… in the menu has these and the answers for your own team.
Your first week
Six steps, in the order you meet them.
- 1Sign in. Press Continue with Google and pick your work account. If Google says Access blocked, you are not on its list yet — tell your team’s account owner.
- 2Write a piece. Open Write, paste the raw material and press Write it. The draft is checked against the compliance rules and the house style, then waits on Review.
- 3Find it on Review. Each draft wears one label: unread (nobody has read it), blocked (fix something first), nothing outstanding (ready to approve) or never finished (the writing stopped).
- 4Approve it. Open it and press Approve. If it answers that its tier is approved by: a role other than yours (shown beside your email at the top), it waits for them — leave it. On Home, Drafts waiting for you counts only the ones you can sign.
- 5Copy it to the website. The piece’s page shows each part to paste. Then press Mark as published with its web address. Editing after approval withdraws it.
- 6Ask. Signed in, How do I… in the menu names the person to ask.
How do I fix something in a draft?
On the piece's own page — from Review, click its title.

- Change the words
- Open it for editing, edit, then Save as a new version. Nothing is overwritten: every version is kept, and you can see what changed between any two of them. If somebody else has it open you will be told who, and their claim lapses after five minutes of silence — Take it over then.
- A finding says a sentence is a problem
- If it offers wording, Use this wording applies it in one click and saves a new version. Otherwise edit the sentence yourself. Findings that only warn do not stop an approval — you may approve over them, and Log it and carry on records why if you want the reason kept.
- It is wrong in a way I cannot fix myself
- Reject with this reason sends it back with your reason attached, and Write it again against the last rejection asks the model to try again knowing what you said.
- It is not worth finishing
- Archive it. It is reversible — Restore this piece brings it back to drafting.
Why is the Approve button greyed out?
It is never arbitrary, and the page always says which reason applies.
Show the reasons
- Something is blocking. A hard finding, or a missing part of the piece. Nobody can wave one of those through — not an owner, not an admin. Fix the text.
- It names a doctor the app cannot vouch for. Nothing goes out under a doctor’s name without a signed standing delegation and verified credential wording.
- Nothing has classified its risk. “No tier” is not “low”.
- You are the wrong person for this tier, or it is your own piece — nobody approves their own work.
- The words moved after the page loaded. Reload and read it again; you would be approving text you have not seen.
Something we already published turned out to be wrong
Do this first, before telling anybody it is fine. It takes about a minute to start.
Show the steps
- 1. Open the piece — from Search if you cannot find it on Review.
- 2. Scroll to Something wrong with it? and choose what is wrong: it breaks a compliance rule, there is a customer in it, or it says something untrue. Write one sentence saying what. Then Mark it non-compliant.
- 3. Go to Review and scroll to Corrections. The app has already written the checklist for you from what it knows was published — take it down here, check there, retire the source, redact the text, tell somebody.
- 4. Work the list. Each item takes Done with a note, or Not needed. The redaction item has its own button, Redact it now, which actually removes the text.
- 5. Close it with a sentence saying what was done. It stays disabled until every required item is settled — a correction cannot be closed while the public can still see the thing.
Marking a piece non-compliant needs approver rights or above. If you are a creator the app will tell you to ask an approver — do that immediately rather than waiting.
Redacting removes the words, not the record. The piece, its history and the evidence that it was published all stay, which is the point: a correction has to be able to show what happened.
What is the yellow “sample data” bar at the top?
You are signed in to the practice copy.
There is a separate sample company inside Draft Orchard, with a made-up business and made-up drafts, for learning on. When you are in it, a yellow bar sits across the top of every screen. Nothing in the sample can be approved, published, emailed or posted — the database refuses, so there is nothing you can click that reaches anybody.
If you do not see that bar, you are in the real one, and what you approve is real work.
Is it down? Service levels says what we promise and how you are told.
